Physiotherapy for Yoga Practitioners

An exploration of movement — on and off the mat.

I’m a Physiotherapist and Yoga Teacher, and I’ve created these programmes for fellow yoga practitioners who want to explore their practice through a physiotherapy-informed lens.

It’s not about chasing the perfect pose.  It’s about giving yourself the space to explore how your body moves, deepen your understanding of your own mechanics, and engage in personalised strength and flexibility work.

This programme is for yoga practitioners who:

  • Struggle with flexibility or strength in specific asana

  • Experience pain or discomfort within their yoga practice
  • Want tools to explore postures more deeply from an anatomy perspective, including:

    • Forward folds

    • Wide-legged forward folds

    • Backbends

    • Hip opening

  •  It’s also suitable for newer practitioners from sports backgrounds – where tight hamstrings or limited flexibility make yoga feel especially demanding

Ahimsa – Sutra 2.35

Practice with compassion.  Honour where you are today

This programme includes:

  • Initial 1:1 Consultation (60 min)
A review of your practice and movement patterns. You can explore posture families (like forward folds, hip openers or backbends) depending on your focus areas
  • Follow-Up Sessions (45 min)
Time to adapt your plan, reassess, and deepen exploration — based on how your body responds
  • Movement Analysis
Remote range of movement assessment (using specialist video-analysis software) — at the start and during the programme, to identify areas of restriction, track change, and guide progress

  • Tailored Home Exercise Programme
Delivered via a simple app with short video demos. Off-the-mat strength and flexibility tools to support your yoga
  • Pre-recorded Yoga Conditioning Classes (60 min each)
These are sent out in stages to complement your physiotherapy plan
  • Ongoing Support & Adaptation
The process is responsive – shaped by your insights and how your body feels along the way

Final notes to support you in the process:

  • Show up with curiosity — you don’t need to be “ready” or “flexible enough”
  • Do the short home practices — just 20 minutes, twice a week, can support meaningful change
  • Engage with the recorded classes — once per week is plenty
  • Share what you notice — all feedback is valuable, and helps shape your plan
